I’ve always been drawn to the little things that make us pause.

The ones tucked between the pages of an old book.

The words that stay with you from a poem.

The sea glass you spot glinting in the sand and absolutely have to pick up.

I’m Jessi, the maker and creator behind Salt & Story. I’m an author, lifelong lover of books and poetry, collector of beautiful little things, and someone who has never met a beach I didn’t want to rummage through.

I grew up near the beaches of Florida, where the sea was simply part of everyday life. Ten years ago, I moved across the Atlantic to England, and I quickly fell in love with the coastline here too.

But the English seaside had something I hadn’t quite expected.

It held onto the past.

Sea glass softened by decades of waves. Fragments of pottery from lives long gone. Tiny treasures worn smooth by the sea and waiting to be noticed.

I became fascinated by them, not just because they were beautiful, but because they made me wonder.

Who held this? What was it once part of? Where had it been before the sea brought it here?

That fascination eventually became Salt & Story.

Each piece I create begins with something found, collected or inspired by the coast. I pair sea glass, sea pottery and other treasures with delicate jewellery designs, creating pieces that are unique not only in appearance, but in the meaning you choose to give them.

Because I don’t think jewellery should simply be pretty.

I think it should feel personal.

Maybe it reminds you of someone you love. Maybe it marks a new beginning, a place that means something to you, or a chapter you’re proud to have made it through.

Or maybe you just see it and think, “Oh, that’s ridiculously me.”

That works too.

I’m also a mum to two wonderful little humans who inspire me every day as I watch them grow and find their own way in the world. And I’m a wife to an incredible man ,and importantly, my favourite beach-combing partner.

Between us, we’ve perfected the art of walking along a perfectly good beach while staring intensely at the ground for three hours.

We call it research.

Salt & Story is a little bit of all the things I love: the sea, words, beautiful objects with a past, and the idea that something small can hold a great deal of meaning.

I might find the piece, but you get to make it yours.

Wear it as a reminder.
Wear it because it makes you smile.
Wear it because, somehow, it feels like it was meant to find you.

And perhaps that’s the loveliest thing about jewellery… somewhere along the way, a little piece of the sea becomes a little piece of your life.
